Once you become engaged and the novelety has worn off it time to consider a few things. My first suggestion is to decide on a theme be it beach, western, romantic, or lavish, etc. Then the hard part a BUDGET!!!! Maybe the two can be reversed because maybe your BUDGET will dictate the theme of your wedding. After that then you need to decide on a date followed by a venue(s). Whether you use a church for the ceremony or a separate venue for both timing is everything. Once a date had been selected get busy booking your location especially if you are getting married during wedding season. Wedding season begins in May and goes through September. Also if you are a flexible couple weddings are cheaper on Friday's and Sunday's and even cheaper during the week. Because of this very reason vendors know that everyone wants to get married on Saturday's. If you are the type of couple who has always wanted to have a destination wedding all I can say is TIMING IS EVERYTHING! Whether you want to be state side or in some tropical paradise be considerate of others you may want to participate or attend the wedding.
Once you have taken ALL these things into consideration, then it is time to begin the next phase.....Timeline and count down to WEDDING DAY!
My brother had a fabulous destination wedding last year. If we had it to do all over again we'd definitely go this route!
ReplyDeleteI always thought an outdoors wedding would be romantic and so much fun. I'm thinking the weather would be too much of a risk in Michigan...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, oh so long, long, ago, if you were Baptist and wanted to save money, you had your wedding at like 1 p.m. with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall (aka largest room in the basement or Sunday School area). You didn't have to serve lunch. Since pictures took awhile and since you were already at the reception site, you could watch the photographer. At really snazzy weddings, appetizers were served while the photos were being taken and then the couple would cut the cake, ogle the presents, and everyone would go home in time for their own supper. I guess I really should join the 21st century.
ReplyDeleteI had a small wedding and one of my major regrets is not the size of the wedding, but that I didn't hire a professional photographer. I don't have one really good picture of me and my husband. I tell people all the time, hire a good photographer and videographer because you'll want those memories years later.
ReplyDeleteHmm.. so I have a location picked, the date set. I have a theme (beach)and I have my big number budget picked. Now I just have to figure out how to divide that budget money up. Any suggestions on dealing with florists? We're already choosing to make centerpieces out of sand, seashells, and candles, and also not having any flowers at the wedding site. So I'm hoping my flowers won't be too expensive.
